The Climb

However stereotypical it might be one of my all time favorite songs growing up was “The Climb” by Miley Cyrus. The music video was published to YouTube in 2009 so I was around 7 when the song came out. And at a mere 7 years old this song was life changing. It is one of the only songs from my childhood I can still relate to as now a 21 year old over 14 years since I first heard the song. The Basic Message is that no matter how hard life gets or how many obstacles are thrown in your way they are all apart of your journey and you have to keep going no matter how many obstacles are thrown your way in life. The song has the lyrics “its not about what’s waiting on the other side, its the climb” and these mere words 14 years later as I am listening to the song while writing this blog entry are still so powerful. We are taught time and time again that the battle is worth is because of the victories at the end, but in reality its the climb and the battle which teach us the most and are so much more rewarding. With this I want to share a picture I took while on a walk the other day. Now looking ahead on the path in front of me there was a rather small hill. This hill represented all the little battles that we have to go through in life and no matter how big or small the metaphorical hill is “there is always going to be an uphill battle” – Miley Cyrus
